“The locality is one of numerous salinas in north west Victoria where salt crusts do not form. The crystals lie above the water level in the dry parts of the year but become submerged after heavy rainfall. Because a crust of crystallised gypsum covers much of the salinas the specimen size is often limited only by how large a section the collector can remove and transport home.”
