Hematite replacing cubic pyrite crystals. Though pseudomorphs after pyrite are far from uncommon, these exhibit complex growth forms, including "thumbprint" hillocks, curved faces, and striations, that make them exceptional above the rest. The specimen shows some contacting on the reverse.
