Warsaw mineral show September 2010

Warsaw Mineral Show, September 2010

This weekend I visited the Warsaw Mineral Show, a large show held here, in the Palace of Culture. The palace was built in the 1950s as a 'gift' from Stalin, and although the building is disliked by many for both its historical symbolism and it's soviet design, it remains not only an important part of the Warsaw skyline but also an excellent venue form events such as this.

Palace of Culture

There are adverts for the show all over Warsaw.

Promoting the show

Polish banded flint

And jewellery created using it

More minerals

Minerals and fossils

Polish sulphur and celestine

Polish galena

Fake minerals

Asia looking around.

Jola Szczerba

Polish Halite specimens

Nice Tarbuttite specimen

Lukasz Osypiuk had many nice Strzegom specimens

My uncle, Adrian, checking out the minerals. He lives in Warsaw.

There was an exhibition of Baltic amber.

With some large 'nuggets'

And some carved creations.

Kids activities too

And a cup made of charoite!

The show remained busy both days

In the entrance was a promotion for the Lwowek crystal summer 2011

And behind the curtains, vodka!

And Lwowek beer.

No papperazzi!

Finally, a little celebration in the evening, which of course called for Russian 'champagne'!

Another nice show report! Must be those magnetic Poles! hehe
