Please help keep mindat.org running free!

As many of you know, we have encountered significant legal costs in our efforts to defend the endowment behest left to us by one of our major supporters who died in 2015. Through the generosity of many of you, we now have ample funds available to defend our position as the court cases wear on, but our on-going operating costs have not yet been covered for this year.

As a not-for-profit charity, the Board of Directors wants to keep mindat.org free for everyone, but everyday administrative expenses that include a full-time programmer, server and hosting costs, capital costs for back up systems and other system hardware improvements do not come free. While we had expected our promised endowment to cover these on-going expenses, the legal battle continues to delay the finalization of the endowment plans. Mindat.org still needs your support more than ever!

Please donate what you can “to keep the mindat.org screens lit” while we struggle through the legal battle ahead. You may sponsor pages for your favorite minerals or localities, or you could make outright charitable contributions via Paypal, credit card or check. The Hudson Institute of Mineralogy dba mindat.org is an IRS-registered tax-exempt 501(c )3 charity, and we rely on the generosity of our supporters to keep Mindat.org running free.

If your employer has a matching charitable donations program, The Hudson Institute of Mineralogy dba mindat.org is an approved recipient through Benevity.com for corporate giving, grants and matching programs. Benevity.com handles charitable support for many of the top 1000 corporations in the world. Making a charitable donation through your employer’s giving program can increase your gift to keep mindat.org running at no additional cost to you! Please inquire at your place of work if they sponsor a charitable or matching gift program!

Thank you!

We would also love to have old books, periodicals, old labels, mineral-related postage stamps, share certificates, photographic prints, all sorts of things like this can be used to help grow our database of information that's freely available to everyone interested in minerals around the world. - Click here if you'd like to send us something

If you'd like to make a more substantial cash donation to mindat.org, then please contact us. Your donations help us to improve the site, giving us more time to add the neat features you want to see. And those making significant donations can help decide what the money is used for (something new you'd like to see? perhaps we can write it for you!).
