LocalitiesGreely, Osgoode Township, Carleton Co., Ontario, Canada

Hi everyone

We have just returned from the Peterborough Mineral show - it was great to see the familiar faces again - and everyone is itching to get back out and collect.

One of the cases on display featured material from the assorted Greely quarries and occurrences. Some fabulous specimens. (Sorry, - no camera with me!) - my question: what is the status of collecting at the working quarries? I get the idea that management is not open to field trips? Would love to suggest to our club that we arrange a trip if management is willing.

Hi Maggie,

I can't answer your question but I would like to join your club if the trip ever materializes... the location is very close to me.

PS my trip to Nepal was great...just back

Both the active Greely quarry (the old Metcalfe quarry is flooded and on private property), and the farm occurrence do NOT welcome collectors, mostly due to previous collectors who were not responsible. Unfortunate.
