Near Engle Station
We are recovering some mineral collections from the nineteenth century and we have found this sample of Bismutite ore which has an original label of Foote (Philadelphia). As you can see, the indicated locality is "Near Engle Station, Sierra Co., N. M.", a locality that isn't registered in mindat. Do you know something about that place? Can you help us?

See my post in response to your query in the "Identity Help" section.....

EDIT: Since these claims are now & forever inacessable I really don't see much point in adding them to the database.....except for possible historical reference. I don't think they had any production.

We don't withhold localities from Mindat because they are now inaccessible. Historical reference is the key.

Thank you very much to all who participated in this debate. We are grateful for the information you have provided, which is very important to us, thanks again. Indeed, as David says, we are a school and the specimen corresponds to a collection of nineteenth century, and probably the dealer did not want anyone to know the site exactly to avoid spoliation.

So far we have not thought about adding "Near Engle Station" as a new locality, although this could be a historical reference.
