there are lots of pictures listed of these pseudomorphs "baryte after calcite" from taouz. Are they really baryte?
I do own a small example of this find and it does react with HCl, so mine is just a simple quartzitic-sand-calcite.
Does anybody know something about these specimens?

you may find information regarding the sand calcites from the (uncertain) Moroccan desert under:
http://www.mineralienatlas.de/lexikon/index.php/Mineralienportrait/Calcit/Sandcalcit
Those specimen are definitely calcites, covered by micro crystals of quartz; they are no pseudomorphs of Baryte after Calcite.
