Some say this is the best specimen from Bleiberg! An incredible wonderful one at least - and a nice pic of Rudolf!

Thank you for your appreciation, Christian.

To say what the best specimen of Bleiberg is might be a very difficult task. A competition like the Miss World Award could be useful. I would be very grateful if you started up something like that because for me it is very interesting what people regard as most beautiful. I do think that a competition really could be very thrilling and great fun for a lot of collectors. It would at least motivate many more to take good pictures of their beautiful specimens.

Regards,

Rudolf

Oops, I overlooked this topic!

Good idea Rudolf. I think it is worth to make such competition (not only for Bad Bleiberg). I have seen many, many excellent Wulfenite specimens in my life. I remember especially one that I saw at an exhibition in Baden near Vienna some years ago. This one is in the collection of Mr. Helmut P. This specimen has a diameter of about 15 cm with Wulfenite xtls up to 2.5 cm. The Wulfenite is not lucent but each xtl is well-positioned - very aesthetic. Unfortunately I had no camera with me.

I also overlooked the response :-)

The idea is good Rudolf ! When it comes to hand specimen from Austria I see many average to low end specimen here on mindat, a few exceptions like you and your Bleiberg / Alpine pics but most of the rest ...

So having someone to inspire other Austrians to take pics from the top specimen would be great. Maybe start a teamwork with them?

Unfortunately the word competition and mineralogy doesn`t fit to me. My working field is to solve geological and mineralogical question (and thanks God earn money with this!). You know the guys better who could do this!
