PhotosStilbite - Forra di Bulla, Ortisei, Siusi Alp, Gardena Valley, Bolzano Province, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy

Is this nice ball material , probably Thomsonite?

regards Ko Jansen.

Hi Ko,

indeed, this "Puflerite" is a unusual form of stilbite and thomsonite-balls are very similar.

This appearence of stilbite is not common, but in this case it was analyzed as early as 1873 and has a SiO2 content of 55,6 %. Thomsonite contains only about 40%SiO2.

(cited from Doelter, Handbuch der Mineralchemie, II. 3. Teil (1921), page 154)

I am not waware of recent analytical results.

The location is now more or less historical and samplles present on most "old" collections.
