Welcome to Mindat, Robert!

Is it the rock that is naturally magnetic, or is that a magnet stuck to the specimen in the first photo?

If it is easy to break a piece off then I would say it is pyrrhotite, if not then some sort of manmade thing like nickel matt. Where is it from?

Yes it is a magnet stuck to the side it effect s a compass I do not have steel shavings to use test and I do not want to break it until I know what it is but it does have fractures

Looks like a smelter product like Silicomanganese or some other ferro alloy. Try a hardness test. It could be very hard.

I agree with Peter--it looks like a ferroalloy used in steelmaking. Ferromanganese and ferrosilicon are the most common ferroalloys, but there are dozens.
