does it effervesce in acid? If so I would say it is malachite.

I would tend to agree with malachite, but please let us know the acid result.

"affected" is not precise enaugh. This can also mean solved without effervescence. Then it would exclude malachite and could be brochantite or almost any other green copper (or even nickel) mineral.

If it was "affected" by acid, i.e., it effervesced, then it can't be brochantite...
