Mineral PhotographyMinDat for Image Archiving

22nd Feb 2016 16:30 UTCJeff Weissman Expert

Up to now, for every image I have posted on MinDat I have retained a copy - either slides, back in the day when Kodachrome 25 was still available, and now digitally, either on CDs, DVDs, and most recently in the cloud. Posting images to MinDat is somewhat like archiving to the cloud, but with public accessibility. My question is that will these images, on Mindat, be accessible to others, and myself, for perpetuity, or until we all become cloud-based lifeforms? In other words, do I still need to bother archiving posted images?
