Deutsches Mindat - ForumSome UK form Grube Clara

10th Jul 2008 19:47 UTCDario Cericola Expert

Meine lieben Freunden

Ich habe viel UK mineralien von Grube Clara. Konnen ihr mich hilfe?

I'm sorry, that's all my German...

I'm not sure in the identity of a few samples I collected in the last months.

I thought:

1 - Pseudomalachite

2 - Cervantite

5 - Agardite is common in other part of this sample, so I think it could be agardite coveder by something

10th Jul 2008 19:54 UTCDario Cericola Expert

9 Malachite

10th Jul 2008 19:58 UTCDario Cericola Expert

10 - Caledonite

12- I think it is not a Ba-pharmacolite duo to the metallic shine... galena?

Viel viel danken

Dario,

I only vote for those which I am pretty sure. The others can be, must not.

1 Cornwallite

3 Hematite

9 Malachite

10 Langite (If its really Caledonite it might be one of the biggest ever found there. The colour is too blue green for me to be Caledonite)

12 Barium-Pharmacosiderite

Cheers Stephan

1 Cornwallite

2 possibly Rhabdophane (or some altered mineral)

3 Hematite

4 pseudomorph/perimorph (goethite after pyrite?)

5 oxidised/altered agardite (turns yellow, then brown if it is altered)

6 possibly bismutite? muscovite? (acid test needed)

7 could be a lot of different secondary copper minerals, but even Cu-bearing bismutite

8 olivenite? cornwallite after olivenite?

9 cornwallite or malachite (acid test needed)

10 there is definitely langite (pseudohexagonal tabular xls, upper part of photo), but there could also be caledonite (prismatic) - hard to tell from the photo

12 bariopharmacosiderite (possibly superficially oxidised)

Thank you very much for your help Stephan and Uwe,

I'm absolutaly a newbie with Grube Clara. I have had the chance to dig minerals there two time and I found a few interesting thing ( at least for me ) and I'd likte to be sure in the identification...

Concenring sample 10, that probably it is the most interesting one, I can add that the matrix is porous quartz, and the mineral is in mixed with altered galena in cavities. As soon as possible I will try to make same better photos and than I will show you.

Cheers Dario

Here a better photo of UK10. I'm not able to take better images, cristals are too small and offen in bad positions

From your last photo, UK 10 is certainly langite. Note that altered galena is easily confused with altered chalcocite.

Thanks to everybody who contributed so far,

now Dario and me have a better and more precise idea of what we have found...

Best,

Chris

Hello Dario!

I just stumbled across this old Clara-Thread....

All I can say is congratulations to your fantastic Caledonit from the Clara!

It´s definitely not Langite.

Glück Auf!
