Field CollectingCollecting around Vancouver, BC???

I'm not much of a field collector, but I'm not sure if I want to give up the thousand possibilities of the Bancroft region, or our fun southern Ontario limestone quarries, etc.
Any info would be appreciated.

You will find it very different than what you are used to out here. I grew up in Ontario and have been in the west since 1980, in B.C. since 2002, so I know a little about the differences. Our main show is in April in Abbottsford and you can meet many of the local collecting group there. A number of clubs exist in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley but most lean toward lapidary. Check out the website for the B.C. Lapidary Society to see where everyone is located.

Collecting in BC? It can be excellent! Mineralogy is very different but lots of great places that you can collect. Trouble is that you have to travel further. Very few sites are within a few hours of Vancouver but there are lots throughout BC. Many of the sites are in very steep terrain. REALLY steep terrain. Get in shape. I lived and collected there for a few years and can give you some ideas.
If you are going to go to Vancouver/Southern BC for a visit, to scout around, please let me know. I know many of the collectors there and could introduce you. They are a very welcoming and generous bunch.
