Field CollectingICELAND

I was wondering if there is a MINDAT member in Rejkavik who would be willing to lend me a rock pick / geologist hammer
for one week. Or alternately where I could rent one.
Thank you for your reply.

So I try a second time :
I am a collector from Vancouver, Canada, and will be visiting ICELAND beginning of May.
I was wondering if there is a MINDAT member in Rejkavik who would be willing to lend me a rock pick / geologist hammer
for one week. Or alternately where I could rent one.
Thank you for your reply.
Hoping to hear back from somebody.

I just noticed your question long after you posted it. What is wrong with bringing a hammer and chisel with you to Iceland? These tools are not on any restricted list, as long as you keep them in a checked baggage.
The natives are not generally enthusiastic about tourists carrying off parts of their island.
Good collecting!

Well, actually I have lent mine in the past, and either never got it back, or got it back completely rusted. I can see why local collectors could be less than enthusiastic about lending them.
Like László said, there's no problem checking them in at the airport, just don't carry them in your hand luggage!

You should confirm this before you go.

We drove the southern coast road, and stopped at a few places where there was no obvious fencing, parking possibilities, and basalt cliffs. In one spot (the first one we tried actually) we found stilbite crystals to 1cm in nice groups.
Only problem with taking rocks out of the country was they didn't want them in hand carry. Repacked into checked luggage and all was fine.
