Lost and Stolen SpecimensInnappropriately kept rubelite specimen

19th Aug 2010 17:28 UTCwalter leite

A dealer took a rubelite specimen from my office to show to a collector and did not give it back. It has been lost since September 2009. The specimen has been with me since 1978. It's about 6,700 g. I would like someone that sees the specimen lets me know about it so I can take appropriate measures.

What do you mean " took a rubelite specimen from my office "? Was it without your knowledge? If so that is theft, call the police. Did you not know the dealer?! There must have been some sort of agreement reached for this to happen, what was the agreement? It all sounds rather "fishy" to me.

It wasn't a theft. The dealer took it with my knowledge and of course there was an agreement that he ignored.

I am very well known in business in my country and I'm not here for joke. If you can not help, please......

Was your agreement written down ? What was it?

Perhaps you should draw the dealer's attention to this thread and tell him that unless the matter is satisfactorily dealt with, you will name him.

I think it was pretty clear from the original post, where Walter says:

> A dealer took a rubelite specimen from my office to show to a collector and did not give it back.

This is quite normal within the mineral world, dealers will often take something to show someone else (and presumably sell it on your behalf for a normal price). Of course, normally you would expect the dealer to either return the specimen afterwards or pay for it.
