GeneralWho's coming to the Mindat Mini-Symposium on 15th November?

Hi All

Just wondering who is planning on coming along to the next UK Mindat and SMLS Mini-Symposium on the Sunday after the Sussex (Haywards Heath) Mineral Show? (See Jolyon's article on the home page) http://www.mindat.org/a/mindat_meetings_2015

We had a good day last year, but of course such events are only as good as the participants want to make it. There will be space for swap tables this time, as well as talks and refreshments. A variation of "swaps" is a "grab table" where duplicate specimens are put out for free, such as is popular at Micromount Symposia around the world. If you've got some spare specimens you don't want, bring them along with a label giving locality details and they'll surely find a new home with someone who will appreciate them. I'll be bringing along a selection of specimens as giveaways, to start the ball rolling.

The Mini-Symposium is the day after the Sussex Show, so why not stay in town and join us?

Look forward to seeing you there and having a good chat about all things mineralogical!

Thanks Luis - see you there! I'm doing a talk on the minerals of Arran.

Roy,

I went last year, and found it well worth the long drive from Bangor, Gwynedd, together with the preceding Haywards Heath mineral show. I can't go this year, but hope to go next year (if it's on for 2016).

cheers

I would love to be able to attend as it sounds quite interesting. Unfortunately, I will be in New Mexico USA for the annual New Mexico Mineral Symposium on the same weekend. Maybe if it's held on a different weekend in the future......

Paul, unfortunately it's held to coincide with the Sussex Mineral Show in the UK so it's always going to be the same weekend.

I guess one of these years I'll have to make the "sacrifice" and hop a plane across the pond to attend then. :-D

Hi Paul

Sorry we won't be seeing you this year, but maybe another time?

I've been at the Bakewell Rock Exchange in Derbyshire this weekend - an excellent mineralogical gathering as usual, and a great chance to catch up with like-minded enthusiasts.

Best wishes

Roy
