GeneralJolyonralphite?

17th Jul 2017 05:30 UTCOT. Ljøstad Expert

To my knowledge there is no mineral that is named after Jolyon Ralph, the founder of this FANTASTIC website. No one in the Galaxy deserves this better than him!! I look foreward to read about jolyonralphite or ralphite or hopefully both.

And the type locality should be the town of Mindat, Burma.

BTW, a silly question: Is brexit(e) a new mineral and is it confirmed? :)

We are also lacking Mindatorgite!

Sure Chet but be carefull for the gramatics, mindatorgite or mindatorgyte? ( really miss these emoticons )

Knowing my luck the mineral would be a guano-derived clay that gets discredited after a year :)

Mindatdotorgite, surely.

There is scope for several new species in this vein (pun intended!); the names mindatite, mindatorgite, jolyonite, ralphite, jolyonralphite and jolyonandkatyaralphite are still unallocated.

As for brexite, that is unlikely to be confirmed in the near future, as not only is its very existence still very much in question, but its characteristics are so poorly defined that it may turn out to be a very different species from what its original proposers envisaged.

I suspect brexite is synonymous with fubarite

If that the kind of mineral somebody wants to name after you, you can always decline.

I'm not really that picky :)
