GeneralHow do you submit photos and info to Mindat?

How exactly do you submit information and photos to Mindat for the database?

I have been filling out the request form found under your Home Page but have never had any response.

I think I've submitted requests 10 or 15 times within the last 2 years.


Am i doing something wrong or submitting to the wrong area?

Yes, I read through it all. I actually saw the link to it right after I posted this.

But everything it says to do I've still already done.

And some of the localities are not noted on Mindat.

Robert, If you want to submit a photo from a locality that is not yet on Mindat, you first have to add the locality before you can add the photo. To do that, go to the page for the next higher locality in the hierarchy (province, or municipality, or mining district, etc), and click the Edit button, then click the Add Sublocality button and fill in whatever information you can for the new locality, then Submit.

I can submit the information for the mineral, just not add a photo to it.

I go to My Home Page, click the My Catalogue button, then click "Add a New Catalogue Entry."

I can fill out all the information.

If I click on the "Mindat Locality" button, it only gives me a few dozen options of localities to add, nothing any where near the location.


After I submit the general info, I click Add Photo, but it always sends me back to the Request To Add Photos Section.


If I go the "Add/Edit Data" tab, and click "Add a New Photo" it also immediately sends me to the page to submit requests to add photos.

Apparently none of these has been successful done. I have never seen any of your requests. If you keep seeing the request form, it means that it has not been successfully submitted.


I have gone in and activated your account.

I am having the same issue. I've filled out the request 5-6 times in the last week. I've entered info in the box and clicked the button at the bottom. Nothing happens and there is no indication that the message was sent other than all the text I entered disappears. Please Assist.

Thanks for replying David but I'm not sure how this helps me. I've only been a member since July of 2017 so "Silmarien" is not me.


I've seen the first image, and completed the form multiple times. I have never gotten ANY kind of response, including a "Request Pending" response, let alone a rejection message. All I want to do is catalog my collection and include photos of my pieces.


Can you activate my account the same way you did for Robert?

What operating system/browser are you using? I logged in as you and was able to get the form to submit immediately and had the Pending approval message on your homepage. Do you see the pending message on your homepage?
