GeneralSeptarian Eggs from China

15th Mar 2018 12:43 UTCKath Fisher

Im sure you have all seen these on ebay, the large septarian eggs sold by chinese sellers. my question basically is are these real? i get so paranoid over the fakes coming from china that i tend not to touch anything from there which is a shame as im sure theres a lot of real genuine nice crystals and minerals from there. But cant for life of me think how they can fake these, some crystals are obvious fakes ie grown , treated etc etc, ithers not so obvious, but are the septarian eggs real or fake lol?

thanks in advance

Kath

guess its one of the universes unsolved mysteries then lol

Which septarian are you referring to exactly? However natural ones are so common I doubt if faking them would be worth the effort.

Yeah, they have better stuff to fake anyway. Like high luster fluorite (oil coatings), numerous specimens found in China but labeled as found in a different, famous location, color alterations to minerals of much higher value, etc...

And like Reiner mentioned, they are super common. I know of a couple places in Colorado were you can find them and back in the rockhounding heydays you could find them all over Otero County, Colorado...

i noticed US sellers sell them for hundreds chinese sellers start at pennies lol and on the chinese sites like alibaba they are so cheap its worrying and comparing to high priced sellers who arent chinese ones thats why i was questioning if they are fakes etc
