GeneralOld Mine Buildings

4th Apr 2018 19:53 UTCFrank Festa

Hi,

I've posted several articles with photos to MinDat over the years and usually like to inquire about just what to do with certain photos before I upload them instead of later receiving a notice there was a problem with a photo.

I was at the former Burra Burra Mine in Tennessee. There is a museum on site and an above ground walking tour of the former mine area and most of the buildings when this mine was active.

Concerning the on-site mine buildings: ore bins, hoist house, boiler house, lab and such. What would these type of photos be considered as...location photos?

Concerning photos from inside the museum: mining equipment, mineral displays, products produced as a result of the mining here?

Thanks

Frank

Yes, location or site photos.

Locality Photo > Site Photo (Modern)

If it's a historic photo, then Site Photo (Historical)

You could always write an article on the museum and include the photos from outside and in the museum. That way you can create an interesting permanent article for the Tennessee Burra Burra Mine.

All the photos can be classed as either Site Photo (Modern), Site Photo (Historical), Photos of maps or geologic displays may be classed as Geological Cross-Section, Workings Cross-Section etc. Miscellaneous or Mineral Display may also be appropriate classifications.

You have already created numerous great articles so it should be easy for you !! :-))

. Goldfield Nevada. These views are of the historic Rustler #2 Mine that is on the Florence Mine Property. It was also called the Red Hills Shaft and the Rogers Shaft. The Mine was made famous when the Rogers Lease found exceedingly rich high grade ore that produced over 35,000 ounces of Gold within a few months. The buildings were built in 1906.
