Good! Six days from Italy to Australia is very fast.

I thought it would have took longer.

How's box number 1 going?

24th Aug 2009 12:24 UTCSteve Sorrell Expert

Any movement up your way yet Robert?

As an aside, if this swap had been moving a bit faster, I could have saved postage and handed a box to Keith in person as he had a quick trip down to Tasmania a short while back!

Steve

To all in Micro Box 1

I for one am not impressed.

It would not take much to post a message to indicate where the package is - or why it hasn't progressed.

It is now 2 months since it was allegedly being on forwarded.

Cheers

14th Sep 2009 11:38 UTCSteve Sorrell Expert

I think that we should give this one up as a lost cause Keith. Maybe you should join the next Super Swap?

Steve

Hi Steve

The thrill, suspense and expectation and wonder has now gone.

Think I'll go read one of my new (but old) mineral books (Emeralds and other Beryls).

Cheers

15th Sep 2009 04:17 UTCSteve Sorrell Expert

What, no cassiterite book?

16th Sep 2009 13:42 UTCKeith Compton 🌟 Manager

Hi Steve

Well some time ago I had read "Tin at Tingha" (interesting) and the Minerama issue featuring Cassiterite (a bit boring) and

Tin Deposits of Durango Mexico (another interesting read), but I have only just acquired Sinkankas' Emeralds and other Beryls book and I am enjoying the read.

23rd Sep 2009 16:45 UTCDonald Peck

Where in the world is box #1?

23rd Sep 2009 23:04 UTCJon Mommers

Box is still with Andy Givens I believe, he did acknowledge receipt:

"got the box yesterday afternoon...everything was packaged and labeled quite professinally....good job....keepin 4 probobly...neat stuff...will be sending it down the pipeline friday to rob"

sent him a follow up email but no response, ?????

Eddy,

do you want me to start this off again, it will take a week or so, work and health issues have put me behind with exchanges for about three weeks as it is. I do not want to see this die a painful death

Cheers

Jon

24th Sep 2009 15:22 UTCRobert Rothenberg

Hi all,

I am next on the list, and would be happy to start a new box of eight. I will be away this weekend, but will have no problem getting it out next week. I think the4 next on the list is Steve Sorrell. Eddy - it's up to you.

Bob

25th Sep 2009 00:09 UTCSteve Sorrell Expert

That means that you would miss out Bob...

25th Sep 2009 16:00 UTCRobert Rothenberg

I assume I would get something on the back end.

26th Sep 2009 23:48 UTCKeith Compton 🌟 Manager

Hi all

I think that sounds ok - When the box eventually gets back to Eddy he can then forward to Robert so that he doesn't miss out

Cheers

27th Sep 2009 14:15 UTCRobert Rothenberg

Unless I hear otherwise, I will get a package out next week.

Bob

29th Sep 2009 19:13 UTCRobert Rothenberg

I have just now (9/29) mailed out a package of eight new micros to Steve Sorrell. Hopefully, Box Number 1 is back on track. It should be there in 5-10 business days.

11th Oct 2009 11:01 UTCSteve Sorrell Expert

I will be keeping 6 specimens out of box 1A. The box will be back in tomorrow's mail to Keith and should only take a day or two to get there.

I have the utmost admiration of people like Bob who have the time, skill and patience to present micros in the way these are presented.

The quality of the specimens is very good too.

Thanks Bob!

11th Oct 2009 11:53 UTCSteve Sorrell Expert

...oh, and I forgot to add, the box that arrived is one that I had sent to Bob sometime in the past!

PS: I think that you should find something to keep Keith!

Thanks for the compliment!

I thought it would be fitting. Glad you noticed.

Hey Keith, you should have well and truly received the package by now. Any news at your end? Regards, Steve

21st Oct 2009 09:57 UTCKeith Compton 🌟 Manager

Hi Steve

Been busy and rushing around a bit.

But the package is now on its final leg to Don !!!!

Already let Don know.

Kept a couple of the Tassie Cassiterites, yeah.

Included another Tassie icon for Don - hope it makes it !

Cheers

21st Oct 2009 16:44 UTCDonald Peck

Looking forward to receiving the goodies! But it isn't the last leg . . . I have to send the package on to Eddie.

25th Oct 2009 16:38 UTCEddy Vervloet Manager

Ouf, thanks Donald! I thought I was being forgotten! hehe (:D

31st Oct 2009 13:45 UTCDonald Peck

The Box arrived this morning and I am eager to study the contents. I will send it on to Eddie early next week At the moment I have to do some preparation for a guest spot in four elementary school classrooms on Monday and Tuesday.

3rd Nov 2009 10:02 UTCEddy Vervloet Manager

Cool! (:D

We are in the final stretch!

Good luck at school!

5th Nov 2009 15:58 UTCDonald Peck

Eddy, I put the box in the mail yesterday; so you should receive it in a few days. I kept and replaced five of the eight specimens that were in the box.

Keith, every specimen came through without damage, including the crocoite. Thank you for it and the natrolite. The natrolites are a bit larger and thus better detail than what we usually find around here.

Bob R. I had never seen fine, needle-like, doubly terminated wulfenites. Thank you.

I don't know who included the cassiterites from Cornwall and Tasmania, but Thank you. I appreciate them!

Looking forward to the next round.

That would be me Don. I was being a bit smart. I know that Keith is particularly fond of cassiterite so I included a few different ones. He kept some and passed on others.

Steve

Hi DOnald,

Glad you enjoyed them.

Bob

Looking forward to it Don!

7th Nov 2009 14:35 UTCDonald Peck

Steve, Thanks. One of the Tasmanian cassiterites that Bob let get away is quite nice. I am delighted to have it.

Don

12th Nov 2009 14:31 UTCDonald Peck

Hi Eddy,

Box #1 didn't get there yet? I sent it via airmail and I would think it should have arrived.

Don

17th Nov 2009 11:09 UTCEddy Vervloet Manager

Hey Don! Got the package yesterday, monday! Thanks a lot guys! Did not have a chance to have a close look, Don, but I did see the copies of the articles about them that you put in! Nice touch, appreciate that!

The time it takes for these packages to arrive is a riddle to me... sometimes it just takes 3 days and sometimes 3 weeks. Airmail or not...

I recently sent a little box to Stuart Mills in Canada. Took almost two months... a mystery to me!

Will comment on the rocks as soon as I can Don!

Eddy

17th Nov 2009 15:53 UTCDonald Peck

Happy to hear it arrived, Eddy. I was beginning to worry!

18th Nov 2009 02:30 UTCKeith Compton 🌟 Manager

Hi

So from 16 June to 16 November that package travelled the globe.

Although I guess not the original - as the original appears to have gotten lost permanently and then replaced.

But hey 5 months to visit 8 people.

Not too bad.

Cheers

7th Dec 2009 09:18 UTCSteve Sorrell Expert

So did Box 1 (as opposed to Box 1A) ever arrive? Or even leave? Is it still on Andy's desk?

7th Dec 2009 14:43 UTCRobert Rothenberg

I cannot say where it is, but I haven't received box 1.

Bob

11th Dec 2009 07:24 UTCEddy Vervloet Manager

I am sorry, Bob, I was under the impression Andy got his box out to you in the end...

I will get a box to you during my Christmas holidays!

11th Dec 2009 21:02 UTCRobert Rothenberg

Thanks Eddy. I look forward to it. Hope you have a good holiday season and happy and healthy new year.

Also the same to all who read this!
