24th Jun 2012 12:09 UTCJakub Jirásek Expert

Hi,

picture http://www.mindat.org/photo-365559.html present pink crystalline diaspore in zunyite matrix and not otherways. Local zunyite forms crystals of microscopical size only!

Regards,

Jakub

Jakub is right. The picture shows a typical sample from Banská Belá: pink diaspore crystals in butter-coloured, clayey zunyite ("dillnite") matrix. Dillnite (F-rich zunyite) was first described from a similar sample by A. Hutzelmann in 1849 (!) and was named after the German name (Dilln) of the type locality (Banská Belá).
