Improving Mindat.orgLost thread - Corsite

14th May 2019 00:37 UTCRalph S Bottrill 🌟 Manager

This thread moved from the General forum to Mineral classification but we cannot seem to open it now?

Sorry Ralph I moved it out of classification to general, there was two generals in the list and I moved it to the first one which obviously has made it disappear.

14th May 2019 03:12 UTCWayne Corwin

Move it again, but this time move it to the SECOND General.

14th May 2019 05:26 UTCFrank K. Mazdab 🌟 Manager

the corsite thread still seems lost... I clicked on its last unread message in the "recent messages" index and was re-directed to the main message board page. I also went to the "general" index specifically and didn't see it listed there either.

14th May 2019 06:48 UTCWayne Corwin

I think that FIRST "General" should be removed from the choices of places to move topics too.

It's the only thing that shouldn't be on the list as a choice!

IT's a bug in the system that allows you to move things to groups rather than actual areas. Fortunately we're scrapping this entire system soon so please be patient.

Thank you for fixing my mistake Jolyon.

I still can't find it... not that I'm particularly engaged in that thread, but at this point I'm wondering what wrong link I'm following that keeps bumping me back to the main forum index?

14th May 2019 10:35 UTCKeith Compton 🌟 Manager

Yes it seems to be going in a loop that's not visible

14th May 2019 10:43 UTCDebbie Woolf Manager

If you want to view the thread it is now under general or recent messages last reply 11.05pm gmt.

Hi Debbie,

doesn't work for me. I found that particular post (it's listed as 15:05 for me in MST) in the recent messages list, but when I click on it I get a couple of redirects and ultimately looped around back to the main forum index. And checking again in the recent messages list, it shows as "unread" for me.

Cor'

Now I can't find it at all - including the loop !

14th May 2019 11:05 UTCDebbie Woolf Manager

So it does Frank!

14th May 2019 11:26 UTCUwe Kolitsch Manager

Searching for "Corse" finds it, but then you get the funny loop.

Jolyon: can it be fixed manually?

14th May 2019 12:21 UTCAndrea Oppicelli

Hi to all.

I started the thread and made a mistake entering the right location.

No problem for the thread. If you like it, I will rewrite the initial question in the right place, in the "Mineralogical classification" section.

15th May 2019 00:13 UTCRalph S Bottrill 🌟 Manager

There was some useful info in the original thread, and I was in the process of capturing it all to the location and mineral pages, but not completed, so it would be good to extract it from it’s black hole please Jolyon. Another good reason not to delete threads!

15th May 2019 00:51 UTCDon Saathoff Expert

You'll have to find "Q" to try to get it back.....he is up to his old tricks.....

15th May 2019 17:31 UTCDavid Von Bargen Manager

Problem there is a group of forums named general as well as a specific forum named "General". Moved thread to correct forum.

16th May 2019 01:12 UTCWayne Corwin

Thats the problem, there shouldn't be 2 choices with the same name, the main "General" should be changed to ""Measage Board""

then under that you can have "General"

I'm relieved David fixed this, thanks.
