I'm loooking for minerals from Lengenbach quarry, Binntal, Switzerland. I'm specialy interested in Dufrenoisite, Baumhauerite, Jordanite, Lengenbachite, Oellacherite, Rathite and Sartorite. Any tipe of samples.
Peter Haas December 21, 2002 11:50PM

I can offer you the following specimens

- Hatchite X (actually Hatchite-Wallisite), a good one !
- Baumhauerite X
- Lengenbachite xx: rich, but not well crystallized (mostly massive)

If you like to swap, I would be very interested in reasonable Panasqueira siderites.

In this moment I don't have anyone, but I can easily deliver someones for you. How many samples do you have in mind?
alan January 28, 2003 12:15PM
I have enough sartorite to fill a small car at the moment. If you still want a piece, let me know what size you want.
alan January 28, 2003 12:18PM
If you want to sell the hatchite, lengenbachite and baumhauerite specimens, I'd be interested!
Luis January 30, 2003 01:39PM
To Alan. Could you send some pictures of the best samples? I would be interested in buy one or two samples. Could you send your swap list? My mail is

Does any one have cm sized undamaged xls of Lengenbach sulfosalts in 4x6 cm matrix? I'd be extremely interested.
matt February 03, 2003 05:11AM
okay, has anyone seen specimens from taylor pit from ontario???
Peter Haas February 03, 2003 11:15PM
Alan & Luis,

I completely forgot about checking back this topic - my Lengenbach specimens are still available. Actually, I'd preferred to swap them, but I also could sell them - I'm sure we will find some agreement. The stuff was part of my systematic collection which I did largely sort out some time ago (is anyone of you interested in a 3 x 4 cm specimen of jamesonite from Wolfsberg, Harz Mts ?)

I'm still interested in a good Panasqueira siderite (it doesn't have to be a large one) or - even better - calcite specimens from Weardale.

alan February 04, 2003 01:03PM
Can't offer youanything in exchange for the Lengenbach Quarry material because I haven't got any Panasqeueira siderites but if you wanted to sell them I'd be very interested.

I have a few specimens from the Taylor pit, but only the Sterryite is visually identifiable. Most large xls from there x-rayed as Veenite. That is the best one can do visually. If you analyse a xl you know what it is, but you know nothing about the one a mm away in matrix. By the way the Sterryite powder pattern has some strong similarities to owyheeite. They are probably related.
matt February 10, 2003 05:49AM
well i dont know what sterryite is, but anthing visual would be nice, i dont know if anything i have is good enough to trade, heres some thing i can think of.

specimens may fit in miniature boxes, from bancroft:

hexagonal calcite prisms; roadcut,

a titanite from bear lake,

feldspar xls w/fluormagnesiokatophorite from bear lk

tremolite xls frome graphite road in matrix (small cabinet)

nice peristerite from watson mine, hybla area mine, bancroft

possible REE andradite from Macdonald mine, no analysis done yet on my specimen, but likely andradite.

barrel shape corundum from Logan rock cut, Bancroft (TN to miniature)

Fluormagnesiokatophorite from bear lake (TN)

have cyrtolite in matrix and single from Davis quarry,

dont remember what else i got till i go to my parents house.

To Peter,
Could you send some fotos of the specimens? My mail is
Rob Woodside February 10, 2003 10:16PM
I'm quite serious about cm sized xls of Lengenbach sulfosalts.

Peter, Have you x-rayed your wolfsberg jamesonite? If not, you may be in for a surprise- Dadsonite!

Matt, It's kind of you to offer good grenville material, but I'm interested in elements and sulfides. After 40 years of collecting systematically elements and sulfides in the best state of crystallization possible on a 4x6 cm matrix, I am now looking for undamaged cm sized xls of elements and sulfides on 4x6 cm matrix.
Alan Barnes February 15, 2003 11:08PM
To Peter,
Sorry, I kept forgetting to check back. Please can you let me know how much you want for your Lengenbach minerals. Unfortunately I haven't got any Weardale calcites, only Cumbrian ones. Let me know and we'll sort something out.

Jose Luis Jara December 29, 2011 01:25PM
Hi Peter,

for samples Lengenbach, wanted to know if you still have parts of the town, to make a change or buy, seeing a good price.

I can send an email to jose.fuenlabrada @
