Red Rhyolite specimen from Saugus, MA showing a band of the infamous Saugus "Jasper" - a brick colored, fine-grain type of Rhyolite used by local Native Americans for arrowheads, spearpoints, etc. Original lithic quarry was located near the Saugus River in what is now the Jasper Street neighborhood.
