Ichinokawa mine, Saijo City, Ehime, Japan

11.7 cm tall. A fine cluster of bright, lustrous, silvery stibnite crystals bearing characteristic striations and slight iridescence (more obvious in person) from this famous locality. The primary crystal is nicely terminated. Dating to the 1870s to 1880s. Ex. Dr. Frederick H. Pough and William W. Pinch Collections, with labels. Tim Blackwood specimen and photographs.

Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Central Tennessee Ba-F-Pb-Zn Mining District, Smith Co., Tennessee, USA

Dimensions: 8 cm x 7.5 cm x 4.8 cm

8 x 7.5 x 4.8 cm. A matrix of sharp, lustrous ruby-jack sphalerite crystals serves as host two a large cream-colored baryte bloom approximately 6.5 cm across. Calcite crystals to approximately 1.3 to 1.4 cm are nice complements. There is even a small, 3 to 4 mm purple fluorite nestled among the sphalerite crystals. This piece is from the Elmwood Mine of Tennessee. Tim Blackwood specimen and photo.
