3A3-NGEFluorapatite, Elbaite

Hatch Farm prospect, East Mount Apatite Mining District, Auburn, Androscoggin Co., Maine, USA

Field of View: 12 mm

A clear fluorapatite (hex dipyramid) can be seen just lower left of center with a thin light blue columnar apatite above. Two small green elbaites are seen to the right of them.
The specimen was collected during an MMGS field trip on August 14th.

F1F-TYFElbaite

Turner Quarries, East Mount Apatite Mining District, Auburn, Androscoggin Co., Maine, USA

Dimensions: 75 mm x 47 mm x 29 mm

Kind of a quick photo of nice grass green tourmaline fan I found several years ago. Pardon my hand.
The tourmalines are in a matrix of quartz, muscovite and cleavelandite.

Personally collected on July 17, 2005.

JYG-EM7Fluorapatite

Hatch Farm prospect, East Mount Apatite Mining District, Auburn, Androscoggin Co., Maine, USA

Largest Crystal Size: 2.5 mm

This purple fluorapatite is also attributed to the Hatch Quarry, Auburn, Maine by the dealer. It is on a coated quartz crystal fragment. It has been my experience of finding purple fluorapatites at the Hatch only in cleavelandite. I suspect that this specimen may be from the Pulsifer which has similarly coated quartz crystals with fluorapatites found on them. Either way, I purchased it to photo stack mostly.

EQ3-QN2Fluorapatite

Hatch Farm prospect, East Mount Apatite Mining District, Auburn, Androscoggin Co., Maine, USA

Largest Crystal Size: 5 mm

I purchased this specimen in June of this year hoping it would photo stack well. The fluorapatite is bicolored with a blue tip setting on a quartz crystal surface chip.
The 5mm columnar purple fluorapatite is attributed to the Hatch Quarry, Auburn, Maine.

CQW-K84Pyromorphite

Driggith Mine, Caldbeck, Allerdale, Cumbria, England, UK

Dimensions: 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm x 3 cm
Largest Crystal Size: 3 mm

This pyromorphite specimen is not analyzed and could possibly be an end member of the mimetite-pyromorphite series.
The iron stained quartz matrix is almost completely covered with 1-3mm apple green, curved crystals.

Ex. Larry Rush specimen, ca. 1995.

Ashover, Derbyshire, England, UK

Dimensions: 58 mm x 50 mm x 7 mm
Largest Crystal Size: 4.5 mm

Hundreds of clear fluorite crystals cover both sides of this 7mm thin plate of possible grey limestone. Unlike fluorites from the north, these fluoresce a weak yellow in SW only.
