FLM-C04Quartz

Heber Valley Area, Wasatch Co., Utah, USA

Field of View: 6.7 mm

Negative quartz inclusion inside quartz, collected along the roadside near the Mayflower exit to Jordanelle heading northbound. This was taken using a 26 mm lens extension tube, and a 32 mm lens, the focal point was less than an inch from the quartz. Most of the quartz collected from this location contains fluid inclusions and is highly etched with clay alterations associated.

J6P-7LYFluorite, Calcite

Gold Chain Mine, Mammoth, Tintic Mining District, East Tintic Mts, Juab Co., Utah, USA

Field of View: 25 mm

Fluorite cubics lining a pocket surrounded by dog's tooth calcite. I see no mention of fluorite in the Mammoth area, but I have gotten confirmation from the mine geologist that it was found in smaller quantities. Does not react to HCl ruling out calcite.
