Largest Crystal Size: 13 mm

Historical specimen.
Crystalline crystals slightly creamy yellow (the largest crystal slightly exceeds a centimeter) arranged on a bed of oxidized Galena. The cross Mines, Vosges.
The sample comes from the pocket (unique ??) discovered in 1777 and described by Jean-Baptiste Romé de L'Isle in one of his works.

7.5 cm by 3.5 cm.

X7X-HPECalcite, Siderite, Limonite

Framont - Grandfontaine area, Schirmeck, Molsheim, Bas-Rhin, Grand Est, France

Dimensions: 70 mm x 45 mm x 1.5 mm
Largest Crystal Size: 1.5 mm

Calcite on Siderite in limonite, all set on the typical red gangue.
This specimen may have come from the "mine rouge", when it was active (around the beginning of the 19th century).

the crystals of calcite are rare today, during the period of exploitation, it was frequent to find geodes of calcite, siderite, baryte etc ...

Old specimen coming from the funds of the Cotholic Institute of Lyon.

Ex: JF.Lanoé and ex A.Tuel.
