EFP-P9HAlmandine : Fe2+3Al2(SiO4)3

Green's Farm locality, Roxbury, Litchfield Co., Connecticut, USA

Dimensions: 2.4 cm x 2.2 cm x 1.6 cm

This is one of the large, well formed garnet crystals that Justin and I collected in August 2007. The day we went there was rainy and cool, but that didn't deter us, and we came home with lot's of nice terminated crystals.

Franklin Mine, Franklin, Franklin Mining District, Sussex Co., New Jersey, USA

Dimensions: 1 cm x 1.6 cm x 1.2 cm

This lovely cluster of Franklinite crystals is the best (and sturdiest) of several that were etched out of a large matrix specimen that was purchased from Rick Kennedy earlier this year at the Castro Valley (Hayward) Show.

Dimensions: 2.2 cm x 1.8 cm x 1.9 cm

This was one of two specimens that I bought from Gunnar Farber right before we left fall Denver this year. (9/2008) I like this specimen because the Rheniite sparkles in the matrix quite pleasingly.

Green's Farm, CT: Garnets

Green's Farm locality, Roxbury, Litchfield Co., Connecticut, USA

Taken August 7th, 2007 while in filming in Connecticut. This location was actually in a guy's back yard, we parked the car and Justin knocked on the door and talked to the owner. We payed him the $10 fee, got out into the rain, and then followed the path to the digging spot. The garnets found here are rather big, with nice crystal faces, and very plentiful.
