Pale aggregate of stilbite filling a cavity in pegmatite, associated with fanning muscovite. The stilbite is difficult to distinguish from albite in hand specimen, although the hardness is far lower. The green material is a mixture of feldspar and chlorite, which is vermicular in some areas.

Shore platform looking south

02466740014947865264389.jpg
Normanville, Fleurieu Peninsula, South Mt Lofty Ranges, Mt Lofty Ranges, South Australia, Australia

A view of the extensive shore platform looking south. The platform here consists mostly of east-dipping biotite-sillimanite gneiss. The tan-pink boulders are mostly pegmatite, much of which contains large crystals of ilmenite and amphibole (NYF classification?). The rutile mine/occurrence at Little Gorge is concealed behind the trees at top left, high up on the gorge face (assuming I identified the workings correctly, I didn't visit them).
