Hedenbergite
Broadway Mine, Silver Star Mining District, Madison County, Montana, USA
12.8 x 7.2 x 3.9 cm. A large, rich specimen of hedenbergite (CaFeSi2 O6, cousin of diopside and augite) from an old mine in Montana from which specimens of any kind are rare now - the Victoria Mine, in the Sylvanite mining district, which was active early in the 20th century. Accompanied by an old John Albanese label.
