Magnesioaubertite, Pickeringite

Grotta dell'Allume, Faraglione Nico, Faraglioni di Levante, Porto Levante, Vulcano Island, Lipari, Eolie Islands, Messina Province, Sicily, Italy

Rich pale sky-blue acicular crystals of magnesioaubertite are mostly covering the top of a 25 x 20 x 18 mm matrix. Minor white silky micro acicular crystals of pickeringite are in association. This is a "co-type" specimen and comes with labels from Georg Gebhard and Mineralogical Research Company. An important thumbnail for this rare species!

Svyazhinite, Gypsum

Chernaya Rechka reserve-guard station, Miass, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia

This tiny gypsum specimen contains even more tiny, yellowish, but crystalline svyazhinite. This ultra-rare, single-locality fluoride sulphate shares its quite unique chemistry somehow with cossaite, wilcoxite, and lannonite.
