A Cu-Au occurrence/prospect located in sec. 17, T11N, R14W, G&SRM, on the NW flank of the Rawhide Mountains, on Bureau of Land Management administered land. Operated by Santa Fe Pacific Mining, Incorporated. The USGS MRDS database accuracy for this locality is not stated.
Mineralization is a deposit hosted in Late Permian carbonate. Local alteration is silicification. The ore zone has been traced for 2,500 feet along strike and is up to 600 feet wide. Local rocks include Tertiary to Early Proterozoic gneissic rocks.
Regional geologic structures include NW-trending mountain range. Local structures include North-trending, high angle normal faults.
Workings involved Santa Fe Pacific Mining mapping and sampling program in 1984 and 1991 reconnaissance sampling.
Analytical data results: 1.0% Cu for 12 samples of outcrop. The average Au was 310 parts per billion (1984). Values exceeding 1.0% Cu and 0.12 ounces/ton Au (1991).
