An aggregate quarry in Dolostone Paleozoic carbonate sediments of the Middle Devonian Muscatatuck group. Located at Pleasant Ridge, 3 miles East of Rensselaer. Quarry is flooded to a couple feet from the surface.
The mill is located at the quarry site.

Abundant natural bitumen permeated the dolostone, and was in almost every crystal pocket. Calcite crystals frequently had bitumen inclusions.
