A locality for quartz crystals with green phantoms situated about 50 km west of the town Ambatofinandrahana in the southwestern part of the central highland of Madagascar.

Note on the spelling of the locality name:
The spelling Ihovitra which is used in the reference, may be a mispelling; it is more likely to be Ivohitra which is a common name of high hills in Madagascar. The variety Iovitra which has been used, is a misnomer.

The green inclusion:
Questions has been rised on the identity of the green micaeous mineral that occurs as inclusions in quartz crystals from this site. Samples has been labelled as celadonite, fuchsite and chlorite. See discussion at messageboard at http://www.mindat.org/forum.php?read,11,301731,301820#msg-301820. An analysis by Raman Raman microspectroscopy at the GIA labs in 2009 has showed these to be fuchsite, a chromian bearing muscovite (Renfro 2009)
