Magnesium Skarn enclosed in marble and pelitic gneises, amphibolites and granulitic gneis. Contact zone with alpine peridotites-serpentinites (Mijas massif).

Spinel-Clinohumite-forsterite assemblage forming lenses and banded exoskarn with pyrrotite, phlogopite and graphite. Spinel occurs in large crystals up to 1.5cm size preferably with red, dark red, black, crimson, purple and violet colours. Clinohumite often showing twinning crystal up to 2 cm size (smaller than Sierra de Benalmadena crystals) with pyrrhotite and limonite.
