The Ikalamavony district situated about 225 km SSW of Antananarivo and WNW of the city Fianarantsoa in the central highland of Madagascar is famous for its pegmatite field. Several LCT pegmatites of the Beryl-Columbite subtype and Lepidolite subtype.

Description: Black (internally very dark brown), highly, lustrous crystals from 3.8 to 9.8 cm, where found in a large collapsed pocket in an unspecified locality in the Tsitondroina area in 2010. These were first thought to be schorl, but according to Moore (2014) they has been analysed and found to be magnesio-foitite. However, no further information was given about the analytical methods used to establish this identity.
