A Ni-Cu-Co deposit on Kasompi hill worked during the 1940s and 1950s. This deposit is one of a group of deposits in an area located about 100 km W of Kambove and about 35 km NW of Swambo.
Note: Menda is just a nearby village. This name is sometimes erroneously used for Kasompi.

Description: Although glaucosphaerite was first described from Australia, it had long been known from Kasompi as "kasompiite", but the name was never submitted to the nomenclature committee (Deliens, 1996). Associated with dark green acicular malachite.
