Suches Lake gold mine
Very large alluvial gold deposits worked since Spanish colonial times. Fluvially reworked auriferous glacial morraines on the western flanks of the Cordillera Apolobamba. Exploitation in modern times is hindered by irregular distribution of gold and seasonal availability of water. Major rock types in the moraines are Paleozoic metamorphic rocks (schists and quartzite).
