Äng mines, Nordmark district, Filipstad, Värmland, Sweden

Äng mines are the largest of the mines in the Finnshytteberg ore field which is the southernmost part of the Nordmark district. Located around the Änggruvorna railway station East of the lake Lersjön its closer both to Filipstad and Persberg but considered to belong to Nordmark distrcit. The mines were closed 1904.
During the 1980ies an exploration programme discovered some sulphides and even gold (pers comm J Kruse).

West of Änggruvorna railway station are the following mines (Nw -SE); Mästergruvan, Gamla Änggruvan, Lilla Änggruvan, Finnshyttebergsgruvan, Nygruvan, Marstrandsgruvan, Sandsjögruvan, Nya Schaktet, Nya Kärvingeborn, Ulvstugugruvan, Södra Gamla Kärvingeborn and Norra Gamla Kärvingeborn.
Together known as "Äng Mines".
