In this field that belongs to the Kongsberg Silver Mining District there are about 25 mines and about 100 prospects. It was worked mainly between 1663-1956.
It is divided in 2 areas: Søndre Vinoren (Vinoren Southern mines) and Nordre Vinoren (Vinoren Northern mines)
In 1996, at Christmas, a 5 cm wide vein with silver-beraring cavities was discovered in one of the mines.
