1915: open cut excavated by unknown operators. 1916: property sold to Steel Alloys Corporation who did some pitting, and sunk a 70 foot shaft.
The biotite paragneiss in the pit strikes N35°E and dips 20°SE. A small dump adjacent to the shaft reportedly consisted of fragments of pink and grey hybrid gneiss. The best mineralized material appears to have come from a lens of crystalline limestone containing coarse mica pyroxenite and granite-pegmatite. The metasediments are cut on the northeast face of the pit by a dike or sill of syenite.
