This general entry refers to the study of the rare chlorosilicate baotite in the Burke and Okuru River valleys, just south of the upper Haast River valley. This species is found in a lamprophyre dyke swarm, which is 25 kilometres wide by 110 kilometres long of carbonatites, fenites, and carbothermal veins.

The Mindat map in this case is general, and denotes the upper Haast valley where State Highway 6 descends down the gorge.
