La Victoria mine

The Mundo Nuevo mining area is in a very high place in the Andes range, between 4600 m and 4800 m high, not far from the town of Huamachuco, in the Sanchez Carrion Province.

The previous locality referenced by Mindat.org was "Mundo Nuevo, Pasto Bueno District, Pallasca Province, Ancash Department, Peru".

Here is the opinion of one of the mine owners, the known Spanish mineral dealer Luís (Miguel Fernández Burillo), which has just arrived to me by email (March 10th, 2010), after my enquiry:

(English translation)
"Until 1992 the mining claims, departments and even provinces in Peru were defined in a referential way, by taking the mountains, rivers, valleys, etc, as limits. It was with the GPS by satellite availability when reliable borders could finally be defined. Mindat is giving data prior to 1992 [Mundo Nuevo, Pasto Bueno District, Pallasca Province, Ancash Department, Peru], that is completely inaccurate. The hübnerites come from Mina Mundo Nuevo, Huamachuco, La Libertad, Peru."

Carles Millan

Note: La Victoria mine is an apparent misnomer. According to https://thediggings.com/mines/usgs60001591 La Victoria refers to "Tungsten District-42"
