Ancient lead mine (abandoned in 1920) working on quartz veins hosted by lower Devonian sandstone and clay schists. The mine was connected underground with the nearby Wohlfahrt mine. The old dumps close to Helenenschacht are now completely removed.
Today Schwalenbach mine is part of the visitor’s mine and mining museum “Grube Wohlfahrt”.
Located SW west of Kamberg and 7.4 km south of Hellenthal.
