Redtop Mine


A lead-zinc-silver mine on Red Top Mountain. The ore occurred in shear zones and along bedding in argillite and marble of the Reeves Limestone Member of the Maitlen Phyllite crisscrossed by quartz veins. The ore occurred mainly along these shear zones. Development consisted of a main adit with around 4200' of workings. It produced ore in 1938, 1944, and 1953 which contained 207,000 lbs of lead, 140,000 lbs of zinc and 6,330 oz of silver.
