An iron ore mine operated by Assmang which represents one of the largest iron ore reserves in South Africa and in the world, having estimated reserves of 117.5 million tonnes of ore grading 63.7% iron metal.

The mine was established in 1964 while is now mainly responsible for supplying iron ore to the local South African market, producing at 3 million tonnes per year.

Geologically, the deposit is part of the lower-most unit of the Manganore iron formation and consists of spotted carbonaceous and dark-brown shale containing chert pillows and hematite nodules.

The coordinates are those of the entrance to the mine's headquarter facilities.
