Location: Reed and others (1978,locality 72) show the lower Cache Creek placer near junction of Cache Creek and Morgan Creek in the northeast quarter of Section 36, T. 27 N., R. 10 W., of the Seward Meridian.
Geology: Smith (1938) reports bench placers overlie old stream terraces cut in glacial till in lower Cache Creek. Bedrock is probably continentally derived Tertiary sedimentary strata of the Tyonek (?) Formation (Tts) overlain by glacial drift (Qn) (Reed and Nelson, 1980). A northeast-striking, high angle normal fault is mapped crossing Cache Creek about one mile upstream from this site (Reed and Nelson, 1980). No other published descriptive information is available. No data is available on possible production. Also see Upper Cache Creek (TL029).
Workings: The drainage has been prospected and mined by various small scale surface methods.
Age: Pleistocene.
